General Assembly and 37th Meeting of the Foundation's Scientific and Technical Committee
Monaco
The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation recently held two important events: its General Assembly and the 37th meeting of its Scientific and Technical Committee (STC).
The General Assembly, held on 24 June at the Monaco Yacht Club, was an opportunity for the Foundation's active members to review the activities of the past two years before discussing the Foundation's strategic directions and objectives for the coming years.
Following this, the Foundation's Scientific and Technical Committee (STC) met on 4 July 2024 at the Méridien Beach Plaza Monte-Carlo.
Covering a wide range of fields - marine protection, preserving biodiversity, protecting the polar regions, managing water resources, the blue economy and climate change - 15 projects were presented and examined at this working session.
The members of the STC were able to decide on the quality of the projects presented and give their opinions ahead of the Foundation's next Board meeting, when the projects will be submitted to the members for approval.
At the end of the morning, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco came to greet the members of the STC and discuss the projects under consideration.
The day continued with a session aimed at presenting the actions and plans of several of the Foundation's initiatives: the Pelagos Initiative, a programme to protect and conserve the Pelagos Sanctuary; DIMFE, dedicated to the conservation and restoration of freshwater ecosystems in the Mediterranean; the Monk Seal Alliance, involved in the preservation of the Monk Seal; the Polar Initiative, dedicated to the protection of the polar regions; the RE. GENERATION Future Leaders Programme, which aims to foster the emergence of tomorrow's young leaders in the field of environmental protection; and the Blue Solutions Hub, which combines ecology and economics to accelerate the transition to the world of tomorrow.
Thirteen initiatives are currently supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, which, since its creation in 2006, has backed more than 785 projects to the tune of 110 million euros.
