HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco attends the Forum on Energy Security for the Future

On 2nd June 2017 HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco opened the forum on Energy Security for the Future at the Monaco Yacht Club. Held for the second year running in Monaco, the aim of this forum is to promote improved energy security and the implementation of clean and consistent energy sources.
The congress brought together politicians and eminent experts in energy security and clean energy, in order to enable them to focus on key energy-related issues and to find effective solutions. The topics discussed during the event included: “the role of institutions for a secure energy strategy in Europe”, “the European energy market: trends and issues”, “regional perspectives and focus on Central and Eastern Europe”.
Guests included Aleksander Kwasniewski, the President of Poland (1995-2005), Guy Verhofstadt, Belgium’s Prime Minister (1999-2008), Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Energy (2004-2009), Volodymr Kistion Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister and Danilo Türk, President of Slovenia (2007-2012).
Following the announcement by US President Donald Trump in regard to his decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, the Sovereign was eager to respond: “This decision is an extremely serious error of judgement for our Planet and future generations. Furthermore it undermines America’s global leadership and its own economic interests by underestimating the growth opportunities offered by a low-carbon economy based on technological innovation” declared the Prince during the Forum.
