The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation developed the Wood Forever programme in order to steer shipbuilding companies towards the use of wood harvested from sustainably managed forests.
The Monaco Yacht Show has supported the Foundation for over two years, and the organisers, Gaëlle Tallarida and Peter Rigby, have handed over a cheque for 40,000 Euros in support of this programme.
SYBASS, the superyacht builders association, has also presented a cheque amounting to 7,000 Euros to support the programme and has asked its members to join.
During his visit to the Monaco Yacht Show on 23rd September, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco welcomed Burger Boat as the first official member to join the Wood Forever programme.Burger has agreed to analyse its supply chain in order to develop a sustainable timber procurement policy, and in so doing, to combat deforestation.
The Foundation hopes that other shipbuilders will follow this example in order to lead the yachting industry towards environmental excellence.
