For the third year running, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation's Environmental Photography Award exhibition is on show at the heart of Madrid's prestigious Parc del Retiro, thanks to the Foundation's Spanish branch.

From now until 13 January, the public will be able to admire the thirty-six images from the 2024 edition, along a route that celebrates the extraordinary beauty of wildlife and highlights the relationship that mankind has with nature, sometimes destructive, sometimes a beacon of hope.

Sharing impactful stories, remarkable conservation actions or successful examples of cohabitation, arousing emotions and raising awareness: these are the missions of the exhibition.

Aware of the importance of regularly raising public awareness of the issues of climate change, biodiversity loss and resource depletion, Carol Portabella, President of the Spanish branch of the Foundation, has obtained the support of SEK University, a long-standing partner of the Environmental Photography Award, to set up the exhibition in the capital.

She explains: "With this exhibition, we aim to invite the public to connect with images that reveal the beauty, fragility, and resilience of our ecosystems. It is a journey that challenges us to reconsider our role as a society and our relationship with biodiversity. The presence of Spanish talent adds a special value to the exhibition, demonstrating that creativity and environmental awareness go hand in hand. Furthermore, our collaboration with SEK International University enables us to continue fostering this commitment among younger generations, who will shape the future of sustainability."

On 19 December, Carol Portabella met Spanish photographer Jaime Rojo, winner of the ‘Into the forest’ category and whose two other images feature in the 2024 selection, for a private tour of the exhibition.
