The International Arctic Science Committee and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation Open Applications for the 2025 IASC-PA2F Fellowships

Initiative

The International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation (PA2F), in collaboration with the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS), are pleased to announce the launch of the 2025 IASC-PA2F Fellowships. This joint Fellowship Program is developed within the framework of The Polar Initiative, reinforcing a shared commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and supporting capacity building for the next generation of polar researchers.

As part of the IASC Fellowship Program for 2025, three IASC-PA2F Fellowships will be awarded, funded by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation through its Polar Initiative.

Selected Fellows will have the opportunity to join one of the five IASC Working Groups (WGs) of their choice: Atmosphere WG (AWG), Cryosphere WG (CWG), Marine WG (MWG), Social & Human WG (SHWG), and Terrestrial WG (TWG).

The IASC-PA2F Fellowships provide early career researchers with an opportunity to engage in innovative scientific activities on a circum-Arctic and international scale. Fellows will build an international network and develop management and science diplomacy skills. In addition to contributing to the work of their chosen IASC Working Group, Fellows will assist in organizing specific activities and support reporting to the IASC Secretariat.

Program Duration

The total duration of the IASC Fellowship Program is 1+2 years:

  • First Year: Fellows will receive travel support to attend two consecutive Arctic Science Summit Weeks (ASSWs), where the annual IASC Working Group meetings are held.
  • Second and Third Years (optional): Fellows have the opportunity to stay involved in their IASC Working Group for up to two additional years without dedicated funding support from IASC.

Important Note: The travel support during the first Fellowship year is the only financial remuneration for the Fellows. Salary is not included during the Fellowship.
