The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the International Olympic Committee join forces to empower next generation of leaders

Press release

Monday September 23rd, in the context of the UNGA and New York Climate Week, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the International Olympic Committee officialised a partnership agreement in the framework of the Foundation’s Re.Generation Future Leaders program. The agreement was officially signed in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and M. Thomas Bach, President of the IOC, Mrs Marie Sallois, IOC Corporate and Sustainable Development Director and Mr. Olivier Wenden, Vice President and CEO of the Foundation.

The two institutions will work together in order to promote the emergence of tomorrow’s leaders in the field of environmental protection, sharing the values of sports to drive positive change. A mission undertaken by the Foundation since its inception in 2006 with the ambition to encourage more environmentally friendly behaviour and to promote outstanding sustainable initiatives, while supporting next generations by distributing grants.

To go one step further, the Foundation launched the "Re.Generation Future Leaders Program" in July 2023, with the aim to foster the fulfilment of young experts and talents from its network. An initiative echoing the commitment of the International Olympic Committee who created in 2016 its “Young Leaders Program” to empower talents to leverage the power of sport to make a positive difference in their communities.

As a nominating partner, the International Olympic Committee will submit selected candidates from its community to integrate the Re.Generation cohort, composed every year of around ten talents under 35, from various backgrounds, recognized for their accomplishments in the field of sustainability.
