The year 2024 marks the launch of the "Iniciativa Humanidad - Fauna silvestre" (IHF). Strengthened by its success in France, the Human - Wildlife Initiative decided to expand to Spain, where similar cohabitation challenges exist.
Thanks to its Spanish branch, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation found a partner in Spain: the Observatorio Grupo Campo Grande, a national think tank supported by the Fundación Entretantos.
The Initiative in Spain will operate under the same model as in France, through an annual call for projects. On March 3, 2024, on the occasion of World Wildlife Day, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation announced an allocation of €100,000 to finance eight cohabitation projects in France and another €100,000 to finance nine cohabitation projects in Spain, selected from fifty applications.
This extension of the Initiative in Spain represents an important step towards promoting harmonious coexistence between wild fauna and human activities in Europe. Discussions are underway to replicate the activities of the Human - Wildlife Initiative in other cross-border countries, especially in Italy and Switzerland.
