Integrated and sustainable management of water resources

Province au bord du Lac Ton Le Sap, Cambodge
Lien Aid
?The Ton Le Sap is the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia, and was added to the UNESCO Heritage List in 1997. However, it is still heavily polluted by humans and contains animal waste, waste water and industrial discharge.
After an initial pilot project conducted in 2010 with the installation of a water treatment company within the community, Lien AID is continuing to develop the programme with the aim of reaching the floating communities of the five provinces around the lake.
This project is part of the Social Water Enterprises programme whose goal is to:
- install a water treatment system
- put into place an entrepreneur from the community who will manage water treatment and supply
- conduct an awareness, education and communication campaign among the local communities.
