?This UNESCO conference was focused on two goals:
- to promote the classification of the Arctic as a world heritage site
- to highlight the specific dependence of the indigenous people whose resources exclusively derive from their environment
The conclusions and recommendations were forwarded, for assessment, to the World Heritage Committee in Quebec, in July 2008 as well as to international organizations, NGOs, advisory bodies to the World Heritage Convention, UNESCO and the State parties concerned for information.
