?Global fisheries are in a crisis and often assimilated to species such as the bluefin tuna. But what do we know about fisheries on a global level? The research work carried out for ten years by the Sea Around Us project based at the University of British Columbia shows that the database compiled by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is deeply flawed.
The Atlas will document marine fish catches at a global level. This atlas will also be supplemented by chapters dealing with topics such as food security and overfishing.
