Great apes are species essential to the life of tropical forest. They play a role in seed dispersal of species they are sometimes the only one to eat, thus taking part in the restoration of their habitat.This project has a threefold objective:

  1. To implement a sustainable research station dedicated to the study and the protection of great apes – especially chimpanzees – and tropical forest in Uganda, one of the world’s Least Developed Countries,
  2. To reduce the threats faced by great apes, by combating poaching, curbing crop-raiding by wild fauna in villages, and by taking part in raising awareness of local populations and public authorities,
  3. To carry out a local development project after identifying priority needs and key partners.

To protect great apes also means to protect many animal and plant species living in tropical forests.
