Burma is rich in natural resources, with forests that contain exceptional biodiversity, a unique home for many animal and plant species. This creates a paradox with the situation of the population, the majority of whom live below the poverty line, making use of the country's natural resources but also facing great instability.

Whilst Burma is undergoing rapid development, a great deal of progress is still needed in order to manage the forests in a sustainable fashion to achieve social, environmental and economic interests that bring equitable benefits to the country and to its population.

This project aims to reform the functioning of the forest exploitation sector, with the final goal of achieving national certification for good forest management. In partnership with local organisations, tools and sustainable methods are tested and developed to promote the practical sharing of resources.
