This project involves research and experimentation in planting new « whole-crop » ligno-cellulosic crops, such as giant miscanthus (Chinese Silver Grass) and Fibre Sorghum, which are very little known as they originate in foreign countries.
The goals are to:
- provide an abundant renewable source of energy, using non-food plants
- guarantee supplies for recently established industrial production units
- enable farmers to adapt to the new Common Agricultural Policy
- incorporate economic and environmental aspects into these new crops
